13The Columbia IEOR graduate programs look for candidates with a background in engineering, mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, or other similar quantitative fields. All applicants to all our graduate programs should have a solid foundation in mathematics, including multivariate calculus, linear algebra (MATH V2010 or its equivalent) and probability and statistics (SIEO W3600, SIEO W4150 or their equivalent).

Ordinarily, the applicant will have majored in the field in which graduate study is intended, but in certain programs preparation in a related field of engineering or science is acceptable.

The TOEFL or IELTS exam is required for all applicants who have received their undergraduate degree in a country where English is not the official spoken language (regardless of whether all or part of your education has been taught in English). TOEFL scores are valid for two (2) years.There are no minimum test score requirements to apply for admission consideration. However, admitted students that were required to take the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE Academic test for admission are encouraged and may be advised to deal with verbal and/or written English proficiency needs by utilizing the resources available for them through Columbia University’s American Language Program. It may be necessary to improve your English proficiency if you scored:599 or lower on the TOEFL paper-based test; or 99 or lower on the TOEFL internet-based test

There is not a minimum General GRE Test score. However, most admitted applicants have scores of 151 (650 on the old version) or higher on the Quantitative section of the test, and 2.5 or higher on the Analytical section of the test.In order to apply to the IEOR graduate programs, you MUST submit GRE scores. GRE scores are valid for five (5) years from the time which they were taken.
We do not accept GMAT scores.
