Tuition Waivers All department fellowships and graduate assistantships that are awarded to U.S. citizens including a waiver of both resident and non-resident tuition fees. Because of budgetary rules at FSU, the Department cannot provide a waiver of non-resident tuition for international students. Accordingly, even if awarded a graduate assistantship, an international applicant will still need at least $15,000 per year of personal funds (or other outside sources) to satisfy U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service financial guarantee requirements.
